Description

Charts the historical development of policing as a set of social and legal practices and considers the factors which continue to shape this development. Examines the role of law, human rights and occupational culture in the regulation of police practice and discusses emerging trends such as transnational policing, the policing of migration and security, and the emergence of a 'mixed economy' of policing within an interactive seminar setting.
