Description

Subject Area: French Studies

French thought and culture have shaped certain notions of our society. In this course, students will study texts by two prominent French writers, Marguerite Yourcenar and Marguerite Duras, as well as films, notably Les Liaisons Dangereuses, in order to focus on different perspectives concerning the individual’s relationship to others in the community. Important cultural, social and ethical issues will be discussed.
