Politics and Business - ARTS2843 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Description Subject Area: Politics Focuses on the relationship between business and politics in contemporary market economies, primarily Australia and the United States. Some attention is devoted to Russia and the international environment. It has a theoretical component, in terms of two particular themes: the relative roles of the state and autonomous groups in driving policy; and the relative roles of interests and ideas in driving social behaviour. The theoretical content is firmly placed within an empirical context, including case studies of major business-government issues (tariffs, tax, intellectual property, licensing regimes in the mining industry, etc). |
