This course is about sustainable development along with the technological and social changes that are involved in achieving it, both at a national and global level.
It is divided into three parts:
(1) the historical causes of the present global environmental and economic crisis;
(2) possible solutions to problems of food production, environmental degradation, industrialisation, energy use, and population growth;
(3) ideas for a New World Economic Order and the economic and technological changes required to bridge the ever increasing gap between rich and poor nations.
