Subject Area: Asian Studies

Introduces students to Asian Studies by charting its rise as an interdisciplinary field of study and setting out to answer the foundation question: 'What is Asia?' Thematic modules examine East Asian, South Asian and Southeast Asian societies, cultures, ways of thinking, recent and current transformations and the influence of geography. Develops a knowledge and appreciation of the region's diversity and provides a range of conceptual approaches to contemporary Asia.
