Subject Area: Media, Culture and Technology

This course emphasizes the relationship between the media and other social and cultural institutions. Topics covered include media regulation; the media and politics; the media and social movements; the media and war; censorship, freedom of speech/press/media, the media, the nation-state and globalization; and the media and suburbia. Australian cases and their comparison with other national/global material will be used throughout.
