Society and Desire - WOMS2005 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Description The subject of desire is an especially curious one because it makes us think about the nature of the human condition. The perception of difference is an erotic process through which we are forged as bodily beings whose identities are constantly shifting. Explores how our sense of self emerges in relation to others. How we divide our own bodies into alien parts that may delight or repulse us is part of a larger social process that includes how we experience the world, how we live our sex, sexuality and cultural difference. Will draw on several continental thinkers.
