Description Diversity, difference and identity have been at the core of social anthropology as a discipline since its inception. Foundations of social anthropology, its core concepts and contemporary theoretical approaches are examined using examples from Australia and the Asia-Pacific Region. Tensions between the local and the global, sexuality, belief, modes of exchange, the role of secrets, the cultural treatment of the body, work and leisure and communication focus the readings and lectures, including audio-visual material.
