Description Explores the meanings of the concepts of sovereignty and order in the context of historical and contemporary discussions concerning the operations of the state, both internally and externally. Particular focus is given to the early development of the theory of sovereignty and to the attacks on this notion made in the name of pluralism and internationalism, now and in the early part of this century. The question of justice in international politics, the issues of post-nationalism and the future of the state are also examined.
