Description

Being literate in media practices requires a wide range of skills, and this course will introduce students to foundational elements of these. In particular, students will need to be able to produce, edit, and evaluate their own and others' work, both written, spoken, and visual. The course will focus in particular on writing, including the background research necessary to prepare for this, ways of structuring texts appropriately for the context, ways of expressing opinion and attitude appropriate to the context, and ways of creating texts which are consistent and cohesive. Relevant contexts will include print and web based media, and academic writing at University.
