History and theory of interior architecture consists of two distinct approaches to reflective design. Theory is reflection directed to design practice while history is reflection to designed objects. These two approaches combine in a single discipline, History and Theory. Interior Architecture History and Theory 3 is the third of four courses in which these approaches are explained and brought together specifically for students intending to become practicing designers and design academics. Interior Architecture History and Theory 1 provide an historical and theoretical context for building design practitioners in interior architecture and enhances the critical and reflective aspects of interior building design work, both during time as a student of the BIA program and in professional practice. The course introduces interior architecture, its main academic and professional issues and its place among other disciplines, such as building, architecture, design and history. The course introduces the use of geometry in interior architecture, and its role in design. Underpinned the use of geometry, the course develop the central theoretical theme for interior architecture in late 20th century, postmodernism.
