Description

An Introduction to history and theories of structure and construction in architecture. Development of knowledge in conceptual design using structures theory and the ability to analyse the built-environment architecturally through an understanding of structure and construction. Knowledge of the influence of structure and construction on material consumption, building adaptability and durability, and effective ecological and bio-climatic design. Knowledge of structure and construction in response to culture and climate, and an awareness of how architecture influences culture and climate through structure and construction. The ability to use structural analysis software as a conceptual design tool and method for understanding the structural design of existing buildings.
