Description This course provides students with the theoretical tools necessary to make basic predictions of helicopter aerodynamics. Basic helicopter configurations, such as co-axial, tandem and autogiro, are compared. The course starts with the actuator disc theory and moves on to more sophisticated blade element techniques. Both vertical and forward flight is considered. The special cases of autorotation and flight in ground effect are examined.
