Description

Unit 1: Pyrometallurgical Processes

Roasting processes. Blast furnace and alternative ironmaking. BOF and EAF steelmaking. Steel refining. Aluminium smelting. Non-ferrous pyrometallurgical processes.
Unit 2: Metal Forming Processes
Staff Contact: (A/Professor Alan Crosky)
Deformation and workability. Hot working, cold working , recrystallisation. Casting, forging, rolling, extrusion, wire drawing. Processing defects and their avoidance.
Unit 3: Ceramic Processing Technologies
Staff Contact: (Dr Owen Standard)
Overview of unit operations in ceramic industries. Processing of ceramic raw materials. Ceramic forming processes. Ceramic drying and firing technologies.
