Description

Designed for students with HSC German or two semesters of elementary German at tertiary level. Develops and extends skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing German and provides an introduction to German Studies.


Learning Outcomes

  • Understand main points of everyday conversations in standard German
  • Comprehend and extract main information from media reports and a variety of other sources
  • Recognise socio-cultural differences and/or similarities between own culture and target language
  • Participate actively in most conversational situations
  • Deliver short, coherent speeches, express opinions
  • Write short, coherent text passages, personal letters, etc.

Assessment

  • Participation - 10%
  • Written assignment - 40%
  • Tutorial presentation - 10%
  • Class tests - 40%
