Description

French thought and culture have shaped our concepts of the individual and society. In this course, some contemporary French literary texts and films will be studied as well as important cultural, social and ethical issues arising from them.


Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students be able to:
  • Approach some important French authors in a productive and informed way
  • Analyse, discuss and write about cultural, social and ethical issues in French
  • Apply practical research skills to gather further information as required and to assess that information critically

Assessment

  • Class work – 15%
  • Open-book test – 30%
  • Oral presentation – 15%
  • Final assessment – 40%
