Description

Explores the video camera as a means of both documenting and creating dance. Introduces students to contemporary software packages that allow for computer-generated choreography and considers the role of Labanotation as both a tool for recording dance and a means of creating new works.

Learning Outcomes

There are three key learning outcomes for the course:

1. Students will demonstrate a broad understanding of how technologies are accessed and used by dance practitioners and teachers and how they influence contemporary dance forms.

2. Students will demonstrate research and analytical skills when preparing reports on each strand of the course.

3. Students will demonstrate ability to use technology to create a dance video and a virtual dance using 'Danceforms'

Assessment

  • Participation in structured tasks - 10%
  • Dance video project and report - 50%
  • Virtual dance project and report - 40%
