Description

Provides the knowledge essential to a detailed analysis of dance technique in order to allow safe class construction and instruction. Injury prevention is a primary concern.

Learning Outcomes

Students who complete this course successfully should be able to:
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in safe dance practice in order to construct a dance class with confidence and safety
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of common dance injuries
  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skill in analysing the possible causes of common dance injuries
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the general principles of the treatment in the acute, sub-acute and chronic stages of dance related soft tissue injury
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of long term rehabilitation and injury prevention in dancers.
