Description Note: This course is not yet offered. It will be offered from 2008.
Objectives: An understanding of the new developments occurring in vision science. Brief curriculum: A review of interesting topics in modern visual science. Topics to be discussed may include: animal vision, machine vision, retinal implants for people with visual impairment, blind sight, stem cell implantation, cures for myopia, cures for presbyopia. A portion of this course deals with public health issues in vision: the importance of epidemiological and clinical trial research, vision loss in the developing world, preventable vision loss, eye care in Australia's indigenous communities.
