Description

Introduction to wireless technologies. First, second and third generation wireless networks. MAC technologies for wireless, packet switching, circuit switching, burst switching. Radio resource allocation and cellular systems. GSM architecture: routing and flow control protocols, mobility management. High-speed circuit-switched data (HSCSD) services. General Packet Radio Service (GPRS). Enhanced data for global evolution (EDGE) and global third generation (G3G). Wireless local area network (WLANs) - IEEE 802.11 and Hiperlan standards. Broadband wireless acess (BWA). Application of wireless services. Future wireless services and software radios.
