Description

Two hours audio/visual comprehension and two hours of grammar/reading/written expression, plus one hour of cultural studies.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
  • Speak, write, listen to, and read in Spanish
  • Become engaged with topics important in the Hispanic world
  • Investigate and report on topics currently discussed in the Hispanic world
  • Think critically about the role of the Hispanic world in global politics
  • Appreciate the cultural production of the Hispanic world
  • Appreciate the cultural and linguistic legacy of the Spanish empire
  • Gain a better understanding of oneself and one's environment by examining the Hispanic world.

Assessment

  • Three in-class compositions - 20%
  • Two oral presentations - 15%
  • Three exams - 40%
  • Twelve Tarea (Completed and submitted online) - 25%
