Description Looks at theories of stress which have influenced the way the topic is researched and applied today. The main theoretical underpinnings are critically examined for their relevance to particular types of stress or events and applicability across the life span. The role of the individual, the nature of coping and the relative importance of biological and environmental factors are explored. Also examines the theoretical underpinnings and empirical evaluation of stress management techniques.
