Description This course extends students' understanding of the scope and possibilities of the jewellery workshop and provides an overview of traditional and contemporary perceptions of jewellery practice. Through lectures, demonstrations and projects, students acquire skills in techniques and the handling of materials related to the practice of jewellery and small-scale objects. Studio activity examines the technology of metals and other materials applying such techniques as sawing, filing, drilling, riveting and soldering to translate ideas into wearable and non-wearable jewellery works. This is a practical class in skills related to jewellery and metal-working.
