Description This course introduces students to the fundamental legal principles and institutions of international human rights. It focuses particularly on the application of human rights principles to current issues, including the role of human rights in a rapidly globalising world. Special attention is given to economic, social and cultural rights, human rights and developing countries, the expansion of multinational corporations, trade and investment liberalisation, the rise of terrorism, the rights of women, the "cultural relativism" debate and the rights of Indigenous
peoples. |
