Description
Investigates the vocabulary, grammar and kanji using manga as the primary resource. Socio-cultural aspects of each manga are also studied. Includes reading out loud, the creation of an original manga narrative, and specific language based assignments.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students should:
- Have collected and listed the most salient items of Japanese vocabulary and/or Kanji in the most effective and innovative method to enhance their learning
- Be able to read and write kanji and read and write their combinations (Jukugo)
- Have identified, recognised, and interpreted the types of Japanese used in particular situations in manga and other forms of Japanese popular culture
- Be able to employ the Japanese they have learned in situations outside the classroom
- Be able to differentiate between various types of Japanese used in manga and other types of Japanese popular culture
- Improve their reading out aloud and performance skills
- Be able to evaluate their Japanese language learning through group and individual assessment tasks.
