Description

Examines issues related to the family and family life in Rome, concentrating on the classical era (100 BCE to 200 CE). Focuses on the Roman family and household. Topics include marriage, parenthood and children, the role of women, slavery, and the household as an economic and social unit. Provides students with the opportunity for in-depth research into a particular area of interest within a broader understanding of the nature of Roman family.
