Description

Explores problems of national identity in relation to the complex interactions between the kingdoms of England/Wales, Ireland and Scotland from the eve of the Civil War to the passing of the Irish Act of Union. Major themes include the development of parliamentary institutions and movements for political reform, cultural and social responses to major political and economic change, and ethnic identity and revolt.
