Description

Explores aspects of German culture and society in the 19th and 20th century through the study of selected texts.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course, students should be able to:
  • Understand literary and academic texts in German
  • Summarise and critically comment on texts and other media
  • Comprehend and extract information from scholarly publications
  • Construct analytical and discursive texts on given topics in appropriate register.

Assessment

  • Essay (1500-2000 words) - 50%
  • Tutorial presentations - 40%
  • Participation - 10%
