Description

Intensive study of French language, with particular emphasis on aural comprehension, oral expression and the acquisition of elementary writing skills. Initiation into the study of syntax and the various registers of French. Further study of French culture.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students should be able to:
  • Communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters
  • Describe in simple terms aspects of their background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need
  • Understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance
  • Gain an understanding of specific contemporary aspects of French/Francophone societies
  • Use a French word processor in written communication.
