Description

Provides the knowledge essential to a detailed analysis of dance technique in order to allow safe class construction and instruction. Injury prevention is a primary concern.

Learning Outcomes

Students who complete this course successfully should be able to:

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in safe dance practice in order to construct a dance class with confidence and safety
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of common dance injuries
Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skill in analysing the possible causes of common dance injuries
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the general principles of the treatment in the acute, sub-acute and chronic stages of dance related soft tissue injury
Develop knowledge and understanding of long term rehabilitation and injury prevention in dancers.
