Description

An introduction to the strengths of materials: properties of sections; concepts of stress and strain; stress-strain relationships; bars under axial force, bending moment, shear force, torsion; deflections due to bending and shear; combined stresses; stressses and strains at a point; principal stresses and strains.

Assumed knowledge: MATH1231.
