Description Marine pelagic and estuarine habitats. The practical application of theory to the ocean environment and its effect on the life of marine organisms. Emphasis is on the biology of phytoplankton, zooplankton and fish, together with the study of fisheries. Includes management, marine technology, computer simulations, conservation, other marine vertebrates, aquaculture and environmental concerns. Technical skills, taxonomy and sampling design.
Assumed knowledge: BIOS2031 and BEES2041 Note: A compulsory field trip will be held during the mid-session break, and will involve personal expense to individual students. |
