Description

One-dimensional gas flow. Thermodynamic and sonic speed relations; Mach number, isentropic variable area flow, Prandtle Meyer flow, normal and oblique shock waves. Method of characteristics. Compressible potential flow. Viscous flow; method of calculating viscous drag. Engine intakes; subsonic, supersonic, ramjets, gas turbines, piston engines, design performance. Rockets. Noise.
