Includes processess of cell and tissue degeneration, acute and chronic inflammation, regeneration and repair, infection, atherosclerosis, thrombosis, embolism and infarction. Particular examples include diseases of practical importance such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, pulmonary embolism and myocardial infarction. Aberrations of cell growth introduces neoplasia with examples of common tumours.
