Overview

The School of Social Work is one of 13 schools within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, located on the Kensington campus of the University of New South Wales.

"Social work is the profession committed to the pursuit of social justice, to the enhancement of the quality of life, and the development of the full potential of each individual, group and community in society". Australian Association of Social Workers. (AASW).

The School of Social Work offers degrees that help students develop a sound theoretical knowledge, practical skills and critical field experience which will help them pursue these goals in their career.

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) allows graduates to work in the profession of social work. The BSW also qualifies them to become members of the Australian Association of Social Workers. Students may take the BSW as a single degree, or as a combined degree with the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Law, or Bachelor of Social Science.

Our postgraduate programs include coursework programs in specialist areas, Couple and Family Therapy and International Social Development. We also have a large group of students completing research with us in Masters and PhD degrees.

The School of Social Work is a large school with several academic, administrative staff, professional liaison and research staff. The School also works closely with social work practitioners and other professionals who contribute to our teaching and field education programs.
