Overview

The School of Art provides a lively and critically supportive context in which students are able to undertake exploration and research in a breadth of genre and media This is possible under the guidance and mentoring of a committed staff of nationally and internationally recognised artist educators and researchers.

The main discipline areas within the School are: Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, and Sculpture, Performance and Installation, in which interdisciplinary practice is encouraged (within the School and across Schools) and research excellence promoted.

Many graduates of the Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts- Honours, Master of Art (coursework), Masters of Fine Arts and the PhD programs have achieved national recognition such as the awarding of prestigious Blake and Archibald Prizes, the Helen Lempriere Travelling Art Scholarship, the Samstag Award and Fulbright and Rotary scholarships.
