The School of Accounting at UNSW is internationally renowned for its research excellence and its innovative and high-quality teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Our teachers have won national teaching awards as well as Vice-Chancellor Teaching Awards and consistently receive strong student evaluations. Classes involve students in an interactive and thought-provoking learning environment and a peer assistance tutorial scheme operates to provide support to first year students.

We also increasingly use the web as a learning tool and our courses are constantly revised to meet new challenges in a globalised and digitised world. We expose our students to e-business, encourage them to understand the links between business strategy and processes, offer advanced courses in assurance and business risk, and help them appreciate global influences on financial reporting and management.

The School of Accounting offers undergraduate programs leading to a Bachelor of Commerce with either a single major in Accounting (8 accounting courses) or a double major (7 accounting courses). The most popular double majors are with Finance, Information Systems, Business Law and Taxation. It also offers opportunities for undergraduate Honours studies and numerous scholarships are available to assist students in this respect. There is a vibrant Accounting Honours Alumni Network that meets regularly and acts as a useful link between current and past students.

The Co-operative Scholarships Scheme operates within the School. These enable students to combine undergraduate study in Accounting with extended periods of industrial training.

Postgraduate study is very strong within the School with both Masters and PhD programs available. The School has long held a well-deserved reputation as the premier research training ground in Australia, having trained many senior academics within the Australian tertiary sector.
