Program Description

The 7131 Graduate Certificate Program (24 UOC) offers foundational study in the field of Urban Development and Design for non-cognate disciplines .

Students can only commence this program in Semester 1 each year. There is no option to commence this program in Semester 2

Program Objectives and Graduate Attributes

The objectives of the Graduate Certificate In The Built Environment program are to:

1. Demonstrate collaborative teamwork capability
2. Act with environmental responsibility
3. Be an effective communicator
4. Demonstrate cultural awareness and be capable of respecting diversity and acting in socially responsible way
5. Attain lifelong learning capability
6. Appreciate the discipline of Urban Design in its environmental, cultural, historical and interdisciplinary context

Program Structure

Admission Requirements
Applicants need to have completed a four year Bachelor degree from a non-design background (including law, commerce, real estate, finance, urban geography or journalism) with a credit average (Weighted Average Mark of 65) or above.

Academic Rules

Advanced Standing:

No advanced standing will be granted in this program.

Upgrading and Articulation:

Students who satisfactorily complete this program with a credit average (65 WAM), will satisfy admission requirements for both 8131 and 8141. However as 7131 is a preparatory program for both 8131 Master of Urban Development and Design (8131) and 8141 Master of Urban Development and Design (Extension), no credit is transferable if students proceed on to either one of these programs.
