Program Description
The MAvMgmt is offered entirely through distance education. The online courses are delivered through a secure learning and teaching website. Students do not need to attend any on-campus activities.
The program is 96 units of credit (or 2 years full-time equivalent) and can be studied on a full-time or part-time basis. Students with appropriate education and/or professional experience may be eligible for advanced standing and may then complete the degree in less time. Students with full-time employment are recommended to undertake a part-time study load.
Program Objectives and Graduate Attributes
- Graduates will be equipped with a breadth and depth of generic and disciplinary knowledge and skills which can be applied to a range of complex contexts;
- Graduates will have developed an understanding of enquiry-based learning and demonstrate analytical skills;
- Graduates will have developed an advanced level of critical thinking and problem solving skills in a management context within the aviation industry;
- Graduates will have an awareness of contemporary issues within the aviation industry.
- Developed an advanced knowledge of and ability to apply research principles, methods and skills through completion of an independent research project in the Aviation area.

Academic Rules
- The minimum UoC required for the program is 96 UoC.
- Students who receive advanced standing or credit transfer must still complete a minimum of 48 UoC at UNSW, including the 6 UoC Research Project.
- The Research Project is compulsory for all students.
- Students who have completed 48 UoC of the program (excluding credit received from advanced standing or credit transfer) may be eligible to transfer to program 5741 Graduate Diploma in Aviation Management.
- Students who have completed 24 UoC of the program (excluding credit received from advanced standing or credit transfer) may be eligible to transfer to program 7449 Graduate Certificate in Aviation Management, and graduate with that qualification.

Admission Requirements
There are four entry groups for the MAvMgmt. The groups are determined by the discipline of the applicant's undergraduate degree, and years of industry experience (if applicable).
Each entry group offers different amounts of advanced standing and therefore the total UoC to complete at UNSW is different for each group. Please refer to the table below:
