Program Description
The Graduate Certificate in Design is a program of contemporary design and is suitable for graduates wishing to extend their professional qualifications with a shorter period of study and those wishing to broaden or change directions in their design practice (or who have been admitted under Qualifications Rule 2.2, which allows entry with professional qualifications). The program offers students an understanding of the relationship design has to a sustainable society, environmental and contextual issues impacting on the designer. The program is committed to the proposition that design is a unitary discipline that finds expression in a vast range of processes, forms, and outcomes.
Program Objectives and Graduate Attributes
The Graduate Certificate in Design is aimed at providing graduates with the opportunity to extend and develop their knowledge of contemporary design. This program offers design professionals fresh perspectives on their practice and develops the student’s the ability to design contemporary objects across a range of outcomes within a collaborative environment. The combination of design theory and technical exploration informs the designer's future contribution to an emerging international design culture.
Program Structure
Students must complete four courses over either one semester full-time or two semesters part-time study. These courses must include three prescribed core courses and one Design Electives from the eight discipline areas offered in the program.
