The Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning offers candidate a one-year postgraduate study program in financial planning. It is designed to exceed the Australian Securities and Investment Commission's Regulatory Guidelines 146 (RG146) financial product advisor tier 1 training requirements. The Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning enables candidate to develop knowledge and skills in financial markets, investment, risk management, financial planning, taxation law and strategies, compliance, ethical and professional conduct. The degree provides a solid foundation for the candidate to advance in the career of and advanced study in personal financial and investment advisory. Who should study this program? The Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning is designed for people who want to develop or upgrade their investment, financial planning, taxation knowledge and skills for a career in personal financial advisory. See Entry requirements for details. This program is also an exit option for students in the Master of Financial Planning program. Program Objectives and Graduate Attributes This program offers a challenging learning environment for students wanting an integrated program of financial planning, investment, and taxation and professional accreditations. The flexible program structure provides students with the opportunity to choose two elective courses according to their career aspirations and professional development needs. The lecturers are at the forefront of research in finance and investment, sharing their recent findings with students in lectures and tutorials. Courses are offered in a combination of distance, online and classroom mode which facilitate off-campus access and time management. Aspiring and high achieving students may apply for articulation from the Graduate Diploma to the Master of Financial Planning. The Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning consists of 48 units of credit (8 courses): 4 compulsory finance courses, 2 compulsory taxation courses and 2 elective courses. Students must complete 48 UOC from the Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning course lists (8 courses): 24 UOC from the compulsory finance courses, 12 UOC from the compulsory taxation courses and 12 UOC from the elective courses.

Grad Dip Financial Planning graduates may claim Australian Securities and Investment Commission RG146 tier 1 compliance.
Exemptions/transfer of credits Transfer credit may be awarded to students with prior incomplete postgraduate studies.
Applicants require a recognised undergraduate degree (or equivalent qualification), as determined by the Australian School of Business, AND, a minimum of two years full time relevant work experience.
