Chem Analysis & Lab Management - 7428 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This program offers training in advanced chemical analysis techniques and associated management issues. It allows students to select from a series of modules covering all aspects of modern chemical analysis, environmental analysis, and people management. It is particularly suited to new graduates or laboratory chemists and managers who wish to upgrade their qualifications, in and knowledge of, chemical analysis and related topics.
The Graduate Certificate is intended as an entry level program for students with a degree in a related science discipline (for example pharmacy, health sciences, science education, or engineering) where chemistry has only been studied in the early stages of the degree. For students without a chemistry degree (that is, a major in chemistry), 12 UOC must be taken from the Chemistry courses in addition to the 24 UOC of Analysis and Management courses required in the program. The Graduate Certificate program is normally completed within one year on a full-time or part-time basis. This is the first stage in an articulated program of Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Master of Science and Technology in Chemical Analysis and Laboratory Management. 24 UOC from the Analysis and Management courses in the Graduate Certificate can be credited towards a Graduate Diploma (program 5648) or Master of Science and Technology (program 8708). Program Objectives and Learning Outcomes Please contact the School of Chemistry for information.
Students are required to complete a total of 36 UOC selected from the following offerings. Students must complete 12 UOC of Chemistry courses, and at least 6 UOC of Analysis courses and at least 6 UOC of Management courses. A student, whose undergraduate degree contains, to the satisfaction of the Program Authority, a major sequence in Chemistry, will be exempted from the Chemistry courses (that is, the student will only need to complete 24 UOC to complete the Graduate Cerificate).
