The MSc in Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) is an interdisciplinary graduate program of study for students with a safety, health or environment background intending to become SHE professionals. It is the final stage of a Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Master of Science in Safety, Health and Environment. The Masters program requires 72 UOC, is normally completed in one and a half years of full study (or equivalent part time) and is available on campus and off campus study modes, with approximately equal emphasis given to Occupational Health and Safety; Environmental Science; and SHE management. The program is designed to accept graduates from many health, science, environment, engineering or management disciplines.

36 UOC Elective Courses

Electives may be chosen from the elective courses offered in postgraduate programs of the School of Safety Science program (subject to any pre-requisites for these courses being completed), or from other Schools within the University, subject to the approval of both the relevant program authorities. The range of electives available off-campus mode is more restricted than for internal students. While such electives are of a coursework type, project courses of either 6 UOC SESC9906, or 12 UOC SESC9912 are also available.

Exemption but not necessarily advanced standing (transfer credit) may be awarded to students who can establish that they have equivalent knowledge in these courses at an appropriate level. Where necessary other, approved post graduate courses may replace existing courses for which exemption has been granted.
