The Master of Technology Management is designed for early and mid-career science, engineering, and technology graduates who want to broaden their career pathways that include people management and business.
The degree enables students to continue to specialise in their undergraduate majors while gaining business and management knowledge through business related courses. It connects the demands of our technological society with graduates who can meet those demands both as professionals in their own areas and as managers of the future. The program is a tri-faculty coursework program involving the Australian School of Business, Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Science at UNSW. As an indication of the variety of possible career paths, some graduates of the MTM program have the following roles:
Program Objectives and Learning Outcomes The program is designed to enhance technical specialisations and to ensure the study of advanced business and management courses relevant to the demands of technological organisations. It enables students to complement their technology skills with management skills by taking additional coursework in their field of expertise and combining it with management studies. Involvement of postgraduate students from different faculties provides a greater perspective on learning and problem solving.
Three courses can be selected from within a business discipline, thereby enhancing career prospects in these fields
The Master of Technology Management is a 1-year coursework program consisting of 8 courses (48 UOC): 3 core courses (18 UOC) plus 5 postgraduate courses (30 UOC) chosen from the Australian School of Business, Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Science. Students may choose a maximum of 5 courses (30 UOC) - excluding the core courses - from the participating faculties of which no more that 3 courses (18 UOC) may be from any one faculty.
