Program Description

The Graduate Diploma by Research in Optometry offers graduates with at least a three-year Optometry degree training and experience in scientific research and specialised training in aspects of Optometry. The Diploma may allow entry to a higher research degree program for those students without an Honours degree. Candidates anticipating progression to a higher research degree should consult with their supervisor to ensure an appropriate choice of courses for their chosen field of study.

The range of coursework courses available is identical to those offered in the MOptom Program 8760, with the exception of OPTM7108 and OPTM7308. The program may be completed in one year full-time or two years part-time. Candidates must be based on campus.

Program Structure

The program comprises 48 units of credit, 24 of which are to be gained by completion of a research project (OPTM7116 and OPTM7216), and 24 by coursework (see program 8760 for the course list. Note: OPTM7108 and OPTM7308 may not be taken as part of this award.)
