Program Description

Option for applicants with an undergraduate degree
The Graduate Certificate program offers the flexibility to choose any four courses from any of the specialisations in the Master of Commerce program.

The Graduate Certificate is designed for professionals with an undergraduate degree who wish to update their business skills and knowledge within a specialised area and the selection of courses can be tailored to suit an individual's needs. Entry requirements are the same as the Master of Commerce program.

Options for applicants without an undergraduate degree
Applicants without an undergraduate degree who wish to undertake postgraduate business study may also apply for the Graduate Certificate in Commerce.

This program consists of three core courses and one core specialisation course from the Master of Commerce, which will provide the fundamental grounding in business and commerce concepts. On successful completion of these courses (minimum credit average) students will have the opportunity to articulate into the Master of Commerce degree. Entry into this program requires a number of years relevant work experience.

Program Objectives and Learning Outcomes

  1. The Graduate Certificate in Commerce is an option for professionals who wish to update their business skills within a specialised area and who require Flexible Study Options to better fit their careers.
  2. This program is also available to professionals without an undergraduate degree who wish to obtain a fundamental grounding in business and commerce concepts.and commerce concepts.

Program Structure

Graduate Certificate with an undergraduate degree - Plan COMMCS7355.
Any 4 courses available in the Master of Commerce Program and specialisations

Graduate Certifcate without an undergraduate degree - Plan COMMDS7355.
Core Courses plus 1 Core Course from chosen specialisation.

Academic Rules

Requirements for applicants with an undergraduate degree - Plan COMMCS7355:
  1. A student must complete four courses (24 units of credit) for the Graduate Certificate.
  2. The four courses are drawn from postgraduate courses offered by the Faculty of Business.
  3. Students are required to satisfy course prerequisites in their program of studies and may be excluded from taking courses which would duplicate prior studies. Guidance will be provided in these matters to individual students.
  4. No exemptions are permitted in the Graduate Certificate in Commerce.

Application requirements for professionals without an undergraduate degree - Plan COMMDS7355:
Detailed resume (outlining competencies, business acuman and achievements).

Supporting statement responding to the following questions:
- Why do you want to study business at UNSW? (500 words)
- What are your most significant professional achievements and why do you view them as such? (500 words)
