Stream Outline

Who should do this stream?

The Public Security specialisation provides additional grounding in the combined areas of human health aspects of bioterrorism, and disaster preparedness and response.

The specialisation is particularly aimed at first-responders, analysts or policy makers from health, emergency management, law enforcement, military or other relevant backgrounds who have an interest in developing their public health knowledge and experience.

The Public Security stream is available to students enrolled in the dual 9047 Master of Public Health/Master of Health Management Program.

Stream Structure

Students must complete 72 units of credit as follows:
  • 7 core courses MPH/MHM (42UOC)
PLUS

Specialisation Requirement courses (30 UOC):

Two stream defining courses (12 UOC)
Two courses (12 UoC) from a recommended stream electives offered by SPHCM or electives offered in the Faculty of Arts and Social Science or Arizona State University
Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences courses:
Arizona State University courses:
AND

One more elective (6 UOC) from a postgraduate course taught by SPHCM, PHCM9143 Internship (6 UOC) or PHCM9148 Project (6 UOC).

PLuS Alliance

The Infectious Diseases Intelligence programs are part of the PLuS Alliance, a new international university partnership between UNSW, Arizona State University and King's College London.

Students enrolled in this degree will be able to complete specific electives online from Arizona State University. Further information can be found on the SPHCM PLus Alliance website.
