Stream Outline

The Graduate Certificate in Educational Psychology is a specialist professional development program with a focus on cognitive processes and their implications for teaching techniques and instructional design. The program is designed to provide deeper insights into human development, learning, thinking, motivation and individual differences within the framework of cognitive load theory.

Graduate Attributes

At the end of the stream, students should have acquired all of the following graduate attributes:
  1. Demonstrate an advanced understanding of the field of education as it relates to their specialist area of study, and the ability to synthesize and apply disciplinary principles and practices to new or complex environments.
  2. Demonstrate advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills
  3. Communicate effectively to a range of audiences, and be capable of independent and collaborative enquiry and team-based leadership
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of international perspectives relevant to the educational field

Stream Structure

The program consists of the following four courses (24 units of credit) from the core list of educational psychology courses:
