Stream Outline

The Master of Arts (Extension) by coursework in Interpreting & Translation Studies (Program 8229) aims to prepare students for professional activities as highly qualified translators and interpreters, by developing the necessary competencies to meet the challenges of the growing domestic and international markets. Courses in interpreting and translation are offered in English, with streams in the following languages: French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish.

This program is accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) at Professional Translator and Professional Interpreter level.

Stream Structure

Students are required to complete a total of 12 courses over the period of at least 3 semesters, including 8 core MODL courses (3 contact hours per week) and 4 elective courses (LING and/or courses from other schools in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, 2 or more contact hours per week), 6 UOC each course.
