Master of Risk Management (Specialisation)

Plan Outline

The Business Operations specialisation focuses on the management of operational risks in commercial organisations. Courses focus on the examination of risks that arise from the execution of an organisation’s day-today activities through its people, systems and processes, and the challenges associated with their effective management.

It adds value by introducing students to novel methods of risk analysis and decision-making using a wide range of information sources, including expert opinion, first-line experience and system simulation. The later tool emphasises the importance of artificially rehearsing extreme risk scenarios resulting in cascading consequences, for which there are little or no historical data, as a means to prepare for crises and improve planning.

Courses point to the importance of risk culture and communication in organisations, and challenge students to think about potential conflicts arising from decisions people make as employees, on the wider community in which they are also members.

Who is it for?
The specialisation is well suited to business graduates and professionals who wish to follow a career path as an Operational Risk Manager.
